| This Collectibles Shop page has my statues for sale; Marvel & DC comic book superhero characters, a couple of WDCC
(Walt Disney Classics Collection), 2 Spider-Man ornaments, 1 Star Trek statue, and an Alien Queen's head sculpted pin. Most are made of cold-cast and other types of porcelain or resin, and most are under original list price. All statues are near mint in original boxes, authentic licensed versions, never displayed or had glued assembly (if that's required). Prices include insurance.
See my What's New page for recent site additions and price reductions.
PLEASE read the main points on the "How to Order" page if interested in buying anything, before you e-mail or call me, thanks. I'm NOT buying, thanks. Site navigation links are at the bottom of all main pages. "View" links are set to open in a new window. Or you can right click on them and choose 'open in a new tab' if you prefer tabs. And unlike so many places, I won't hose you with excessive shipping. Word of warning: BEWARE those who sell statues, especially older ones, and say "factory sealed/never opened" and claiming they're "mint"--they have NO idea! Plenty have arrived from the factory or from shipping mishandling with cracks, chips, broken off tips, legs, arms etc., or like my Robin statue and the infamous second (2001) Batman Animated statue for the WB stores, developed a defect over time. I don't recommend buying any statue via mail order that has never been inspected by the seller, and you should ask them to inspect it before you pay for it or even bid on it. If they refuse, move on, there will be another one soon enough. It makes no difference in value if it's never been opened to most people, and it shouldn't. You're paying for the statue inside, not the factory tape on the box! DC Comics character statues: Batman #1 1940 cover 3-D wall sculpture/statue, #30/250. Rare! Made in 1995 exclusively for the Warner Bros Studio Stores galleries, and not all stores got them due to the limitation. It's a hand painted 3D cold-cast resin sculpture of the cover of the 1940 Batman #1 comic, with full 3D figures of Batman & Robin swinging out at you, very cool! About 19"h x 15"w x 5.5"d, encased in a Plexiglas box that's screwed to a wood frame at the back. Includes a matching number certificate of authenticity from Warner Bros.. Bought new at the Tampa/Brandon FL. WB store in 1996, and it sold out at the stores in a few months. These are very rarely on the market. In the late '90's or so, a big time collectibles seller running an auction for one in the Comic Buyer's Guide said they "usually went for multiples of list price" whenever they had one, but I never found out what that 1 sold for. List price was $550, plus tax. So "multiples of list price" would put it at $1100 or higher. This was the first comic cover one they did, followed by the Batman #4 one, which was cheaper due to decreased costs. If people are still paying $300-$600+ for the 5,555 made Randy Bowen "nuthin' but cape and a head on gargoyle" Batman statue, that's for sale every week somewhere, and the same for the first WB Gallery Batman animated maquette they did 2500 of, shouldn't this be going for many times that, with only 250 made (so 10 to 22 times fewer made than those other two)? Certainly there has to be more than 250 Golden Age fan Batman collectors who would like this rare piece, even for a 4 figure price. If you can pay thousands of dollars for coverless or low grade Batman #1 comics, which are for sale regularly, surely a statue of that cover that there's only 250 of (plus 25 artists proofs) should be worth a good bit! Reduced, now...$1000, includes shipping/insurance. (View) (View certificate) Batman & Robin bookends statues (1997, DC Direct). #777/1500. Designed by Scott McDaniel, sculpted by William Paquet. 2 statue set depicts Batman and Robin busting through windows into the villains lair. Comes with laser cut brass silhouette profiles of the Riddler and the Joker, one for each bookend. Lots of details, including bags of money. ONLY 1500 made folks, which is the lowest Batman statue production from DC I think, yet everyone still has them for the $295 list price. I think they're nice and different than the usual statue, with the "action" theme, and the sculpting is fine, so not sure why they're not sold out and going for more by now. Reduced, now...$225 (View) Batgirl statue, full size (1997, DC Direct). #974/3600, sculpted by William Paquet. This is the first Batgirl statue from DC, with Barbara Gordon as the classic comic book version Batgirl. Original list price was $195. Reduced, now...$150 (View) Lobo statue, full size, first version from 1992, #2736/4004. Sculpted by Randy Bowen, based on a Simon Bisley design. For my money, one of the best DC statues so far, and one of the best period. Has real chain! Have found several sites in the past with it for $330-450. Reduced, now...$200 (View) Robin statue, full size (1994, DC Direct). #3051/3900. Sculpted by Randy Bowen. About 10" tall, with metal staff. Nice colorful paint job. Unfortunately, mine has developed a crack in the pinky and ring fingers between the knuckles of Robin's left hand (see enlarged scan), and it continues underneath in his palm, but you don't see that from the side angle. Was NOT like that when I got it new, and it's been boxed ever since, and I've seen this in many other Robins, apparently due to some stress with the staff, although mine appears to be straight. Fingers are split through with a gap, but if displayed from the side, you won't see it. Nothing is loose or moves, and it hasn't gotten worse since I discovered it a few years ago, so I don't expect it to get worse. Also has one tiny white flake on right hand index finger knuckle on back/staff side. Could easily be touched up with a dark green marker or dab of paint. If you're an artsy person with some experience with statues/ceramics, or know someone who is, both defects could be easily patched. I just don't want to fool with it. Pic is of mine. $150 new, guide prices have been around $225-$240. I want...$99 (View) (View close-up of hand crack) Marvel Comics character statues: Amazing Spider-Man/Spiderman on rooftop statue (1990, The Marvel Collection). Limited to 7500, but not numbered. Designed by John Romita Sr., this is the first Spider-Man statue Marvel did, in a series of 4 character "bisque" statues. 6.75" tall, or about 7" mounted on the cherrywood base that has a nameplate too. Better paint job than some others in that series. Was $49.95 new. Now below original price...$45 (View scan from box) Marvel Comics/Creative License Porcelain ornaments: These hand-painted cold-cast/sculptor's porcelain ornaments were put out by Marvel and only sold through comic book shops, and were limited between 5000-7000. All are mint in boxes with certificates, and unused. Pics are of my ornaments. 1994 Spider-Man ornament #1. I have #3432, of 7000 made. Sculpted and hand-painted in full color by Tony Cipriano for Randy Bowen Designs, this ornament has Spidey hanging in his familiar upside-down pose. 3" long, 2.5" wide, with filament line for hanging. Was $29.95 new, and sold out fast back then. Should be much higher by now, but for you...$40 (View) 1995 Spider-Man ornament #2. Have 2, #1329 & 1334 of 5000. Sculpted by Shawn Nagel, hand-painted in full color. About 4" long and 4.25" wide, this one has Spidey in web-swinging mode, holding the hanging filament in one hand, while the other hand is ready to shoot the next web...$40 ea. (View) Walt Disney Classics Collection figurines/statues: The Lion King, "Pals Forever" WDCC statue, with Mufasa and Simba, 1995 Tribute series, only available between March and end of April that year. (Same one as on my Disney page.) List price was $175, but too many for sale for way less, so reduced to...$100 (View) Mr. Smee (from Peter Pan) WDCC "Event" figurine from '94/'95, titled "Oh Dear, Dear Dear." About 5" tall figurine. NOT the teal flower version. I'll include the matching button and postcard too. Was $90 new. And it's only about $5-$8.70 Priority Mail for shipping, not any $12-$15 I see some auction sellers trying to charge. Reduced, now...$55 (View) Other statues/items: Aliens/Alien Queen head resin pin. 1991. Approx. 3" long, cold cast resin pin sculpture. Rare! Less than 500 made! Was a comics retailer incentive for the Aliens Tribes hardcover-- for every 25 copies of the book you ordered, you got a pin, and not many stores could afford to order 25 copies of a hardcover. Signed by maker Randy Bowen. "Collecting Figures" mag said $260 when they were still around, but that was awfully high. Reduced! Was $75, now...$65 w/free shipping & insurance. (View) Star Trek Jean-Luc Picard Latinum statue - From the "First Contact" movie. Limited to 5000, made by Playmates around 1997/1998. In photo illustrated box that has some shelfwear. Made of the usual cold-cast resin, fully painted, about 14" tall on the base. Nice likeness of Patrick Stewart's Captain Picard, full figure, with phaser rifle. "A Borg huntin' we will go..." The certificates ALL say "1 of 5000", so don't fall for the hucksters who try to make you think they've got the #1 statue in the series, as these are NOT individually numbered. Was $70-$99 new depending on the store, but you can nab this for only...$45 (View) |
